Yes. Your first conversation will be with Nataliya herself, not a receptionist, legal assistant, law clerk, or paralegal.

As the managing attorney of the Boyko Law Firm, Nataliya personally reviews your situation and speaks with you from the start. Your story is not collected by an intake team and passed from person to person. You speak directly with the attorney who will evaluate your matter, answer your questions, and handle your case if you decide to move forward.

The contact form gives the managing attorney an initial understanding of your situation. The consultation is where she learns the full story.

You will have the opportunity to explain what happened, what concerns you most, and what you hope to accomplish. She will ask questions, clarify important details, and review any information that may help her better understand the matter.

This conversation allows her to identify the legal issues involved, determine where the Boyko Law Firm may be able to help, and begin outlining the next steps. You do not need to know the correct legal terms or arrive with everything perfectly organized. You only need to be prepared to speak openly about what you are facing.

Most initial consultations last approximately 30 to 45 minutes.

That time allows the managing attorney, Nataliya., to look beyond the basic information included in the contact form and develop a more complete understanding of your circumstances. The conversation is not intended to feel rushed or reduced to a checklist. It is an opportunity for both you and Nataliya to ask questions, discuss the matter, and determine the most appropriate path forward.

We offer our initial consultations by phone, via video call (Zoom or your preferred platform), or in person at our Rego Park office.

You are welcome to choose the format that is most convenient and comfortable for you. An in-person meeting can be especially helpful if you have documents to review or are ready to begin representation, but it is never required for your initial consultation.

If you decide to hire the firm after meeting by phone or video, the necessary agreement and paperwork can be sent to you electronically. These documents must be signed before the Boyko Law Firm can formally begin working on your matter.

By the end of the consultation, we should be able to explain whether your matter is something the firm handles, where we can assist, and what the next steps would involve.

Occasionally, an additional document or piece of information may be needed before we can provide a complete answer. Even then, you will leave the conversation with a clear understanding of what is needed, why it matters, and what will happen next.

Our managing attorney, Nataliya, will walk you through the proposed path forward so you can understand what representation would involve before making a decision. Many clients who feel comfortable with the plan choose to move forward that day, but there is no pressure to sign before you are ready.

Our managing attorney will confirm exactly what you are hiring the firm to handle, review the agreement with you, and outline the first steps that need to be taken.

From there, the firm begins organizing the matter behind the scenes. Important dates are recorded, supporting documents are gathered, urgent issues are identified, and a plan is created for moving forward. You will also know what Nataliya needs from you and what you can expect from the firm.

The paperwork depends on the type of legal matter, but Nataliya will review each document with you before anything is signed. You will understand what the document does, why it is needed, and what it allows the Boyko Law Firm to do on your behalf.

Personal Injury Matters
You will generally sign a contingency-fee retainer agreement.

This agreement officially hires the Boyko Law Firm to handle your injury claim. It explains that the attorney’s fee is tied to the amount recovered, how that fee will be calculated, and how case-related expenses will be handled. New York requires contingency-fee agreements to be in writing and to explain the fee and treatment of expenses.

You may also be asked to sign limited authorizations that allow the firm to request medical records, obtain accident-related information, communicate with insurance companies, and collect the evidence needed to pursue your claim.

Family Law Matters
You will generally sign a family-law retainer agreement.

This agreement explains exactly what the firm is being hired to handle, how legal fees will be charged, what costs may arise, and what both you and the firm can expect from one another. For matrimonial matters, New York requires a written retainer agreement in plain language and provides clients with a Statement of Client’s Rights and Responsibilities.

When a court case is involved, the firm may also file a notice of appearance. This tells the court and the other parties that the firm now represents you in the proceeding. It is not a general power of attorney.

Immigration Matters
You will generally sign an immigration retainer agreement.

This agreement identifies the immigration matter the Boyko Law Firm will handle, the services included, the legal fees, and any responsibilities you may have during the process.

You may also sign a form allowing the firm to formally appear as your attorney before the appropriate immigration agency. A Form G-28 is used for representation before USCIS. An EOIR-28 is used before an immigration court, while an EOIR-27 is used for matters before the Board of Immigration Appeals. These forms tell the government that we represent you and allow official communications to be directed to the firm where applicable.

Additional Authorizations
Some matters require additional forms, such as permission to obtain records, speak with an insurance company or government agency, receive case correspondence, or take another specific action for you.

These authorizations are limited to what is necessary for your matter. Nataliya, will explain every document before you sign so you are never left wondering what authority you are giving the firm.

Yes. Most paperwork can be sent by email and signed electronically, allowing you to move forward without making an additional trip to the office.

You may also print the documents, sign them, and return them by email, or visit the Rego Park office to complete everything in person. The firm will work with whichever option is easiest and most comfortable for you.

The work begins as soon as the required agreement and any other necessary items are completed.

Our managing attorney will begin reviewing the available information, organizing your documents, recording important deadlines, and addressing the immediate priorities. Your matter will not sit in an intake queue waiting to be passed to someone else. Once you become a client, the firm begins moving it forward.

You will continue communicating directly with Nataliya throughout the representation.

You can reach the firm by phone, text, or email, and Nataliya will use the method that works best for you. Most clients prefer phone calls and text messages, but the goal is to establish a reliable way to communicate so questions, updates, and important decisions are never lost between different people.
